Music Lives Here

A Bit About Me
As an 8 year-old-girl, I begged for piano lessons. I loved singing in choir, but I desperately wanted to play. My parents gave in to my begging for Christmas and thus began my musical life! Playing piano brought me into other musical pursuits in my formative years--singing in choirs and playing in concert band and marching band, where I earned and held leadership positions. All of these things helped me understand the meaning of hard work, organization, problem solving, and attitude.

Piano helped bring me my first income when I was 13, accompanying vocal and instrumental performances every year since. All of these things helped prepare me for challenges in other areas of my life. I moved to Indianapolis to work towards my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance with Dr. Kate Boyd at Butler University before moving on to earn my Master's Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Bowling Green State University. The 2020 pandemic sent me back to Illinois where I now teach online and socially distant in-person lessons. Without piano lessons, I may not have had the confidence to even wish these things for myself.

I see music as the purest expression of humanity. Music laughs the heartiest laugh and cries the most heartbroken tears. Learning the piano helped me learn about the world in the most unique perspective. It is the pursuit of my life to help everyone discover music's place in their lives.

When I began teaching in 2012 out of my parents' house, I was a vastly different person, player, and teacher. Since then, my piano education has brought me all over the country and even to Europe! I love the physicality of singing and making music at the piano and it makes me so happy to be able to share my passion with others.
